Once Upon a Time…
In a small town near a shiny river, there lived a dog named Bruno. Bruno was known by everyone because he always wanted more food. No matter how much he ate, he was never full. People in the village often gave him leftover food, but Bruno always wanted more.
One morning, Bruno was looking for food as usual. He walked to the butcher’s shop, where the smell of fresh meat filled the air. When the butcher stepped away for a moment, Bruno quickly grabbed a big, tasty bone and ran away before anyone could see him.
The Journey Across the River
Bruno was very happy with his bone. He ran through the streets, holding the bone tightly in his mouth. He wanted to find a quiet place to enjoy his food. Soon, he reached the riverbank and saw a small wooden bridge. He decided to cross the bridge to eat his bone on the other side.
As Bruno walked across the bridge, he looked down into the water. He saw another dog in the river, holding a bone that looked even bigger and better than his own.
The Big Mistake
Bruno wanted that other bone too. He thought, “If I get that bone, I will have two bones to eat!” He barked loudly at the dog in the water, but as soon as he opened his mouth, his own bone fell into the river with a splash.
Bruno watched as his bone sank and disappeared. He looked again for the other dog, but it was gone. Then Bruno realized the truth: there was no other dog. It was just his own reflection in the water!
Bruno felt sad and hungry. He had lost the bone he worked so hard to get, all because he was greedy and wanted more.
The Moral of the Story
The story of the greedy dog teaches us that if we are always greedy and want more, we can lose what we already have. If Bruno had been happy with his bone, he would have enjoyed it. But because he wanted more, he ended up with nothing.
Moral: Be happy with what you have. Greed can make you lose everything.
